The GoPro Trading Academy is the result of many years of professional trading, and hundreds of requests from delegates on the courses we have conducted at the invitation or request of various companies and institutions who have paid us to share the reason for our success.

Head Trader

Our lead coach is Iain Giffen.

Iain's credentials as a financial trader include almost 30 years experience in an Investment Banking, Fund Management and Trading environment.

Although he started trading at the age of 16, his initial experience in the investment and trading world began in the early 1990’s with his induction into the heart of London's Financial Sector, during which time he worked with some of the Top Trading Firms and Funds in the world.

By his early thirties, Iain was Vice President of the London branch of a major US Investment Bank where he headed up the fund groups responsible for UK, Dutch and Scandinavian institutional investors. During that time Iain and his team were responsible for billions of dollars of assets for some of the largest institutions in the world, many of which will be familiar to you.

Observing the fallout from the dot-com crash across some of the world’s largest equity funds he began to develop an alternative to the conventional investment and trading approach. More recently, as the Head Trader for a listed Cayman Island Private Equity Fund he has used this approach for over a decade to not only provide exceptional returns for his investors, but also to protect his clients against systemic market risks.

Although he still trades privately, he is effectively retired from Fund Management at the Institutional level. This has given him the freedom to travel widely, and for the past several years has been invited to bring his knowledge, experience and expertise to a number of financial institutions and training companies around the world.

At the moment, Iain lives with his wife and two daughters on the beautiful Garden Route of South Africa.

Iain has spent the better part of the last decade imparting what he wishes he knew at the beginning of his journey, so that you do not need to reinvent that wheel.
